WATCH: Tempers flare during one-off Test match between India vs Australia in Mumbai

Australia versus India encounters are always spicy and have an element of drama during the matches. Over the years there has been some terrific battles being fought in the men;s game. On Saturday, tempers flared up at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai between Harmanpreet Kaur and Alyssa Healy.

Team India held the upper hand as stumps were drawn on the third day. The Indian Women’s team last week beat England to win the only Test in Mumbai at the DY Patil Stadium.

It is to be noted that the Indian Women’s team do not get to play many test matches. For the first time in a long time, the Indian eves have played back-to-back Test matches. The two teams will then play a short three-match T20I series at the start of 2024.

Harmanpreet Kaur loses cool at Alyssa Healy –

Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was bowling to her Australian compatriot Alyssa Healy towards the end of the 3rd day. Australia was placed 221/4 with an overall lead of 34 runs at that point of time.

During the 80th over Healy defended the ball back to Kaur. The Indian skipper picked up the ball and flung the throw towards the batter. Alyssa Healy defended herself as Harmanpreet Kaur went up in appeal for ‘Obstruction of Field’.

The umpires though gave the benefit of the doubt to the batter as according to the rules, she was protecting herself. The very next ball though Harmanpreet Kaur had her revenge. Team India’s captain floated a ball as Healy went for a sweep and missed the line of the ball. There was a huge appeal as the umpire put his finger up and Alyssa Healy went back to the hut for 32.

Earlier in the day, Australia bowled out India for 406 runs to give an overall lead of 187 runs. Beth Mooney played attacking shots to score 33 before she was the first batter to be dismissed. Elyse Perry scored 46 runs before falling to Sneh Rana to give the Indian bowler her second wicket.

Harmanpreet Kaur then swung into action first dismissing top scorer Tahilia Mcgrath for 73 before dismissing Healy.
