Yashasvi Jaiswal played a brilliant knock and reached his 2nd Test hundred. In the match against England at Vizag, the youngster waged a lone war without much support from the other end and cruised to the landmark in a quick time. Jaiswal got to his hundred by hitting a six.

Tom Hartley bowled a tad fuller. Jaiswal anticipated the length early and stepped out of the crease. He converted the length of the England spinner as per his choice and dispatched the ball over the deep mid-wicket region to fetch six runs. The huge six from the Southpaw meant that he got to his second Test hundred in the last six months.

In the early stages of the match, Jaiswal took some time to get set in the middle. The wicket did not have much in it for the spinners. However, James Anderson caused trouble for the Indian batters. On a wicket that was a bit helpful for the pacer, he got the ball to swing and seam a bit.

Yashasvi Jaiswal makes a statement with his knock

The Indian openers did well to get through the initial tough period. As the bowlers did not give away easy runs, the Indian batters tried to take risks to maintain a good run rate. In the process, Rohit Sharma perished to Shoaib. The 20-year-old was delighted to get his maiden Test wicket in the form of the Indian skipper.

Shubman Gill scored 34 runs and returned to the pavilion. That was when Shreyas Iyer joined the youngster. For the 3rd wicket, the duo posted 90 runs. Jaiswal blossomed in the partnership by taking the aggressive route. The opener played some lovely drives and lofted the ball well. The talented batter was finally rewarded as he got to the 3-digit mark.

Jaiswal brought up his celebration. He raised the bat and the helmet on either hand and then signalled that ‘I belong here’. It was not just a celebration from the Mumbai batter, but rather a statement that one could expect more from him in the days to come.
