Tragic death of R&B Singer B. Smyth at 28

B. Smyth is no more

R&B musician B. Smyth (born Brandon Smith) passed away on Nov. 17 after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis, according to his older brother Denzil. He was 28.

His brother shared the post on his Instagram page: “On behalf of my brother and my family we want to say thank you to all of you for all of your love & support throughout the years,” Denzil wrote in the caption of the post. “We also want to say thank you for all of your prayers. #RIPBSMYTH Love you, bro! 🙏🏾☁️”

Denzel went on to share how happy B. Smyth was in his final days, saying, “While he was in the ICU, it really brought him a big smile to his face. So on behalf of my brother and my family we want to say thank you to all of you for all of your love & support throughout the years.”

“All those new TikToks and Instagram reels made him really, really happy,” Denzil said in the video. “He was able to have a smoother process… All the love and light you were sending on social media he really felt it and sunk into it.”

He said his brother asked him to make the video to let his fans know he “appreciates all the things you guys do for him,” and said that it was his fans that inspired him on his new projects with music or fashion.

B. Smyth rose to fame on YouTube and became known for his songs “Might Cuff You,” “Ride Good,” “Creep,” “Leggo” and more.

B Smyth collaborated with artist Chainz and Futureduring his career, telling Complex in 2013, “It’s definitely dope, especially me just being fans of those guys. To go from being a fan to being amongst them as my peers and doing records with them, it’s really a blessing for me.”
