India suffered another loss in the 5-match T20I series against West Indies as they lost the 2nd T20I in a thrilling contest by 2 wickets at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Sunday, August 6. The consecutive losses have raised questions about the Indian team as many fans believe that the team can’t win without Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Parthiv Patel talked about Sanju Samson who has played both T20I matches but failed to perform in each contest. Patel said that whenever Samson doesn’t get included in the team, we talk about him, however, according to him we should also talk about how he fails to utilise the opportunity every time.

“Every time India loses, we look at the negative points. Throughout the white-ball series, there has been talk about the need for batters to bat long and it is something that has been missing so far. Every time Samson is not in the squad, we talk about him, but he has not cashed in on the opportunities he has availed of so far. Probably time is running out for him, maybe yes or maybe no,” Parthiv was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

There was only one batter who looked comfortable and that was Tilak Varma: Parthiv Patel

He further added and said that Samson got a lot of opportunities but he is unable to cash on it. Patel believes that there is only one batter Tilak Varma who looked comfortable in both matches. He heaped praise on Tilak and said that he has shown his range of shots in just 2 international matches.

“Samson has been getting a lot of opportunities, to be honest, he is just not making the most of the opportunities that he is getting. There was only one batter who looked comfortable and that was Tilak Varma. The way Tilak rotated the strike, the way he used the reverse sweep against spinners, the way he scored sixes over covers, through this he showed the range he has.” he added.
