Raj Kundra, businessman and husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, once stirred up a social media storm in past with his controversial remarks about Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s earnings. The audacious statement quickly caught the attention of Salman Khan’s legion of fans, who launched a fierce backlash on social media.

Kundra is currently making headlines for his upcoming film UT69, which will revolve around his experiences during his time in prison. However, after his controversial statement about Salman, in which he said that the actor is nowhere close to his earnings. Salman‘s fans criticized and ridiculed him for drawing a comparison between his earnings and the actor’s.

“I can bet Salman doesn’t earn that much… well, at least nowhere near me. I am in for making films only because my wife has been part of this industry. Ask him (Salman) probably he can tell you better. But I am not wrong in terms of calculations.” Kundra was quoted as saying by Koimoi.

My statements were then misquoted: Raj Kundra

However, under mounting pressure from the online community, Raj Kundra was compelled to issue a clarification. He explained that his statement was taken out of context and expressed admiration for Salman Khan’s immense success in the entertainment industry.

“During a recent press conference for Satyug Gold, I was posed with the question of whether I would consider acting. I replied with an honest reply stating, “Firstly, who would watch me? Secondly, as a businessman, I would be unaffordable. I further went on to say, ‘Forget me I am a small fish but one can compare the top 10 industrialist earnings to the top 10 actors in Bollywood and whilst one gives you more fame the other certainly pays much better.

So, obviously, no producer would overpay to get a bad non-actor when he can sign a superstar for cheaper. My statements were then misquoted out of context, causing a lot of furore from Salman Khan fans. My wife and her family share a very good rapport with the Khan family and I thereby have never meant any ill towards anyone,” he added.
