Temba Bavuma’s candid photo goes viral after Netherlands outplayed South Africa in ODI World Cup 2023 clash
South Africa suffered an embarrassing 38-run loss to the Netherlands in the 15th match of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Tuesday, October 17. The rain-affected clash was reduced to 43 overs per side after which the Aghan team displayed a brilliant all-round performance.
Meanwhile, an image is getting viral on social media in which South African cricket team captain Temba Bavuma was spotted in the dressing room with a white towel wrapped around his body with tension on his face about the horrible loss against the Netherlands. As soon as the image surfaced on the internet, Bavuma became the favourite of the meme makers.
Average captain, defensive approach, zero game awareness, pathetic field placements, prefer friendships over talent, didn't select Herschelle Gibbs for world cup, lost against afghanistan, couldn't bat, couldn't bowl, couldn't field.. SACK TEMBA BAVUMA 😭#SAvsNED pic.twitter.com/kIBbKqI3gW

A brilliant all-round performance by the Netherlands
Talking about the match, the Netherlands were asked to bat first after which they put up a respectable total of 245 runs in 43 overs. The Dutch skipper Scott Edwards displayed a magnificent batting performance and played an unbeaten knock of 78 runs. South African bowlers leaked a lot of runs in the end
Chasing the target, the Netherlands bowlers were right on the target from the start and picked up wickets at regular interval of time. They didn’t let any South African batter to settle on the pitch and bundled them out for just 207 runs. Bavuma talked about the match in the post-match presentation.
“I think we had them at 112 for 6. We shouldn’t have allowed them to go past 200. We dropped the ball there. Still, we were confident with the chase. But they were able to extract some deficiencies in our batting department. We were clinical against Australia. We could have controlled the extras.
The fielding wasn’t up to the standard. Not the same standard we had against Australia. We need to have some conversations with the boys. You have to let the emotion seep in. It will hurt. Our campaign is not over by any stretch of the imagination. That was a proper display from them. They put us under pressure throughout. Good luck to them.” Bavuma was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
