In the 15th game of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, Netherlands and South Africa played against each other. For the first time after the T20 World Cup last year, both teams played against each other. In the infamous game, the Dutch won and threw the Proteas out of the tournament. With this, the likes of Bangladesh and Pakistan got the opportunity to reach the semis.

Meanwhile, after two hours of delay, the game was reduced to a 43-over affair. In the game, as done by a lot of captains in the game, SA won the toss and elected to bowl first. The wicket was assisting their pacers, thanks to the overhead conditions. They had a great start as they took five wickets for 82 runs. Things got worse for the Orange Brigade as they lost seven wickets for 140 runs.

At this stage, the Green Brigade looked like bowling out the opposition for a low total. However, skipper Scott Edwards (78*), Roelof van der Merve (29), and Aryan Dutt (23* off nine balls) helped the team reach a competitive total of 245/8. For the four-time semifinalists, Lungi Ngidi, Kagiso Rabada, and Marco Jansen took two wickets each. On the other hand, Gerald Coetzee and Keshav Maharaj took one each.

Netherlands turns over South Africa, AGAIN !

A year after facing the embarrassment, the South Africans were looking for an act of revenge on their European opponents. However, throughout the chase, it seemed that the Netherlands had the answer to every question from the Temba Bavuma-led side.

From the start, the Dutch bowlers kept taking wickets and didn’t let SA run away from the game. It all started with the Green Brigade losing four wickets for 44 runs. Even though the likes of Heinrich Klassen and David Miller added 45 runs for the fifth wicket, the former playing a poor shot and getting didn’t help. The last hope for the team was Miller. After he got out as the seventh wicket, the end was nigh. They ended up losing the game by 38 runs.
