The previous record was held by Brian Lara. The former batter from the WI managed to hit 21 sixes in the match while playing in County Cricket. Tanmay has set a new record with his marathon knock filled with aggressive blows.
At one point in his innings, the batter seemed like breaking the record of Lara for the most runs in a single innings in an FC match. However, the innings of Tanmay were cut short by the bowlers of Arunachal Pradesh, who finally made an attempt and became successful in dismissing him. Only one batter in the Ranji Trophy has managed to score a 400 top date, which is yet to be broken.
