Former Pakistan skipper Rashid Latif has claimed that the players haven’t been paid for the last five months. Apparently, the team has had a pay dispute with their board ahead of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. However, with only a few days left in the tournament, the players were claimed to have signed the contracts. However, with the team on the brink of elimination, Latif has claimed that the players are yet to be paid since June this year.

Speaking to PTV Sports, he said, “In the Pakistani media, many things are happening. Perhaps they are false news. I will provide you with the true news, which was kept on hold.”

PCB chairperson not responding to Babar Azam’s messages: Rashid Latif

The former wicketkeeper batter added that the current Pakistan skipper has left multiple messages to the concerned officials but to no avail.

“Babar Azam has been trying to message the chairman for the past two days, but they are not responding. He is messaging Salman Naseer (Chief Operating Officer), he is messaging Usman Walha (Director – International Cricket). So, what is the reason for not responding to their captain? Then, you are releasing a press statement.

Latif further added that the players have been told that their contracts will be reconsidered. Apparently, the team started the tournament with two wins but has gone on to lose four games. With semis qualification out of their hands, they need a lot of results to go their way

“And it has been told to the players that we will reconsider the central contracts they have signed. These central contracts will not be accepted. Players have not received their salaries for five months, so how will they play? I didn’t want to reveal this,” he further added.

The former champions will play against New Zealand, Bangladesh, and the defending champions, England.
