Sunrisers Hyderabad and David Warner’s rift takes new turn during IPL Auctions 2024
Sunrisers Hyderabad took the early spotlight on Tuesday during the IPL Auction 2024. The 2016 IPL winners signed two ODI World Cup 2023 winners Travis Head and Pat Cummins. The Australian skipper created history when he became the first-ever player to cross the INR 20 CR mark.
David Warner who had led the team to their only IPL title win was controversially stripped of his captaincy. The Australian opener could be seen in tears being comforted by his teammate during the IPL 2021 season. During the IPL Auction 2024, Warner and Sunrisers Hyderabad’s relationship took a new turn. The latest move has left many fans angry and questioning SRH for lack of respect towards their former skipper.
David Warner’s rift with SRH takes a new turn.
Former IPL Champions Sunrisers Hyderabad left their fans angry David Warner was blocked on social media. The former SRH skipper posted a few pictures on his Instagram story confirming the same.
David Warner wanted to congratulate fellow Aussie player Travis Head for making his move to Hyderabad. When he tried to tag his former IPL side it showed that David Warner was blocked. The 37-year-old took a screenshot of the same and posted it on his Instagram story.
The same treatment was meted out to David Warner on Twitter as well. After Pat Cummins broke the initial record for the IPL’s costliest player, Warner just left a cold message on his story. “Well done @patcummins30 for the Sunrisers”.
The feud between the player and the franchise is two years old. During the IPL 2021 season, David Warner was removed as the skipper of the side and even dropped from the playing XI.
There was a moment during the season when Warner was sitting near the advertising boards and being comforted by a teammate. The Australian broke down and was seen in tears at the treatment that was given to him.
The Australian has since then moved to Delhi Capitals which is where he began his IPL Career. Last year, David Warner was made the skipper of the Delhi side in place of the injured Rishabh Pant. Despite the Australian’s best efforts, DC finished 9th in the table during the IPL 2023 season.
