Sourav Ganguly has given his prediction for the Test series between India and England. The former Indian captain felt that India would win the series by a fair margin. Ganguly wondered if India would win it by a margin of 4-0 or 5-0. Sourav felt that the result of each match would be important and weighed in on the importance of playing in the first match of the series.

Ganguly talked about the ongoing Test match at Hyderabad and felt that England could have won it had they batted better in the first innings. “India will win the series, the matter is whether they will win it 4-0 or 5-0. Every Test will be decisive. England could have won this Test match had they batted well,” said Ganguly while giving his prediction for the series.

The former Indian batter added that a side cannot win a match in India by managing to score 230 or 240 odd runs in the 1st innings. Ganguly claimed that 350 or 400 would have helped England to beat India at Hyderabad. “One cannot win against India by making 230 or 240 runs on Indian soil. Had they made 350 or 400, they could have beaten India, but they weren’t able to do that,” Sourav added.

Any team other than the Australia of that era could not create any impact here – Sourav Ganguly

Ganguly felt that the tour would be a difficult one for England. The former Indian cricketer who played against the mighty Australia in the 2000s felt that only that team could have challenged the current side in India. “It’s a tough series for England. Any team other than the Australia of that era could not create any impact here,” Ganguly said as he predicted the win of India in the series.

Meanwhile, England have been able to make inroads in the ongoing Test. At the start of the 4th day, England lost the wicket of Rehan Ahmed. But Ollie Pope crossing 150 has meant that the visiting side has been able to gain a lead of over 150 runs in the 2nd innings. The Test match might have a good finish given the way it is heading at the moment.
