Siddharth Aanand recalls about Boycott Bollywood trend and the success of Pathan in a recent interview. The director of Pathan spoke about the same with a post on X. Talking about the same on X, Siddharth wrote “As the new year draws to a close, I take a moment and look back. The year 2023 that changed everything for me. It started with a lot of nervousness and anxiety.”

The movie had several top stars in the industry like Shah Rukh Khan, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, Dimple Kapadia, and many others. All of them belong to the spy verse which is produced by Yash Raj Films. Aanand added that Pathaan got released despite several forces being against it. He said that it is good to recall about it as the new year has started.

Aanand looked back at 2023 and felt that it changed everything for him. He felt that the year started with anxiety and nervousness. Aanand then spoke of Boycott Bollywood trend and felt that Hindi movies were written off by the viewers. Pathaan, my film was releasing amidst a sea of forces against it. Something very weird called Boycott Bollywood was the phrase of the season. Hindi films were written off by naysayers,” added Aanand.

“And then the day came. 25th January. I remember waking up at 7am. After going to bed at 3:30am post the cast & crew screening,” recalled Siddharth of the release. Siddharth added how him, and his wife felt after the first show, who had gone to listen to the views of the general public about Pathaan.

Siddharth added that the day started with a numb feeling and ended on a high which was not in the expected lines. “Woke up feeling numb. The 1st show had just started. Mamta & me decided to go to our friend Jayu’s place and wait for the public reviews. As we sat on his terrace the reviews started to pour in. Unanimously it was declared a blockbuster. I couldn’t sit anymore,” added Siddharth.
