It seems that the Indian team’s trouble won’t end anytime soon. Ahead of the ongoing tour of South Africa, Mohammed Shami was ruled out of the series. The team felt his absence during the first Test while bowling. After the Asian team was bowled out for 245, they felt the absence of Shami while bowling. Even though Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj bowled well, they needed a third pacer to do well.

The likes of Shardul Thakur and Prasidh Krishna, who made their debut, struggled with the ball and conceded runs at a higher rate. After the three days of the first Test, the home team won the game by an innings and 32 runs. Ahead of the second Test in Cape Town starting on January 3, Thakur got injured while batting.

While facing a ball, the Red Kookaburra lifted and hit his shoulder. After the injury, the Mumbaikar kept batting but avoided bowling to nurse his shoulder. After this, the all-rounder’s injury level is unknown and the scans are yet to be done. Meanwhile, the visitors need to win the second Test to avoid a series defeat and take some points before going into the home series against England.

On the other hand, the Proteas would like to win the series before traveling with a B team to New Zealand. As the second season of the SA20 will be played with the superstars, an uncapped player is made the captain of the team for the two-match Test series.
