Shahid Kapoor wasn’t the initial pick for ‘Kabir Singh’, Did you know who was the first choice?
Film director Sandeep Reddy Vanga is gearing up for his coming directorial Animal starring Ranbir Kapoor which is scheduled to be released on December 1. The movie has already generated a lot of hype ever since the trailer of the movie was released. The movie also features Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Rashmika Mandanna.
Meanwhile, Sandeep made a lot of headlines after making the Hindi remake of Arjun Reddy. The movie was named Kabir Singh starring Shahid Kapoor which was a blockbuster at the box office. However, did you know, Shahid was not the first choice of the movie? In a recent interview, Sandeep revealed that Ranveer Singh was the first choice for the movie, however, he refused to do it.
“I was continuously getting calls from Mumbai to do the remake. First, it was pitched to Ranveer Singh. I wanted to do it with him. But finally, he decided he would not do it because it was too dark for him at that time.” Sandeep was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
I was always sure about Shahid, he’s a fantastic actor: Sandeep Reddy Vanga
Sandeep further added and talked about how Shahid’s past records were a concern as his movies have never crossed the 100 crore mark. Many people also advised Sandeep not to do the movie with Shahid as it won’t earn much and said if it was Ranveer, the box office could’ve burst. However, Sandeep kept his belief in Shahid’s ability.
“Shahid’s track record was a concern; none of his solo films had done ₹100 crore then, his highest was ₹65 crore. They used to say ₹55 crore, ₹65 crore is the kind of business Telugu movies do. ‘Why are you doing it with this guy? If it was Ranveer, the box office would be higher’. But I was always sure about Shahid, he’s a fantastic actor,” he added.
