Shah Rukh Khan’s film ‘Dunki’ all set to be sent for Oscar nominations

Rajkumar Hirani’s movie Dunki has garnered a range of responses from the audience since its premiere. Despite this, the film has maintained consistent box office earnings through positive word of mouth. As per the latest reports, there is a possibility that the film could be considered for Oscar nominations.

As per Box Office Worldwide, Dunki will be entered for the Oscars after Shah Rukh Khan’s films Swades and Paheli. The news sparked a frenzy among SRK fans on social media, hailing it as a “proud moment” for both the actor and the film team. At the same time, there were many fans who were in utter disbelief at the nomination.

A fan posted this news on his Twitter handle, “See, no matter whatever will be the result, at least show some positivity for #Dunki to go for the Oscar nomination. I am so happy and looking forward.” Another fan wrote, “Proud moment for SRK, Rajkumar Hirani and Bollywood #Dunki to go for Oscar nomination.” A person added, “After being screened at Rashtrapati Bhawan, #ShahRukhKhan & #TaapseePannu starrer #Dunki all set to be sent for Oscar Nominations.”

Dunki has crossed Rs 200 crore in India

The film is centred around the unlawful migration of Indians to nations such as the UK, the US, and Canada through a method known as ‘Donkey Flight,’ hence the name Dunki, the film faced off against Prashanth Neel’s Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, featuring Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran. The online community dubbed it the clash of the year.

This film marked the initial collaboration between the actor and filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani. Alongside Shah Rukh Khan, the cast included Taapsee Pannu as well as Vicky Kaushal, Boman Irani, Anil Grover, and more talented actors. Released in theatres on December 21, 2023, the movie has surpassed Rs 200 crore in India and over Rs 430 crore at the global box office.
