Jay Shah will continue to be in power in the Asian Cricket Council. The Secretary of the Indian Cricket Board has been elected as the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) for a record 3rd time in a row. It is a good feat considering how challenging it is to lead a big organization like the ACC.

Jay has been the President of the Board for a long time. He assumed the role in the ACC for the first time in 2019. He was also elected as the President of the Council a couple of years ago for the 2nd time. The leader from India is likely to be at the head of the Council for a few more years.

Some reports claimed Shah to step down from the role. The reports claimed that Jay would be in contention to become the Chairman of the Apex Board later this year in November. Greg Barclay of NZ has been in power since November 2020. The Kiwi’s term will come to an end later this year.

Major achievements of Jay Shah in recent times

Given the addition of the role, it was supposed that Jay might step down from the role in the ACC. As it turned out, Shah ended up becoming the President of the council yet again. It is to be seen if Jay will be in the reckoning to become the Chairman of the Apex Board in the upcoming months.

As a Secretary of the Indian Cricket Board and as a President of the ACC, Jay has done great work. He was instrumental in the successful conduction of two Asia Cups, in 2022 and 2023. Last year, it was held in the hybrid format despite the complaints and the weather forecast.

In the Indian Cricket Board, Jay has been able to execute many pathbreaking decisions. For the first time in the history of Indian Cricket, a full-fledged Women’s Premier League was hosted in 2023. Pay parity was announced by the board in 2022. Jay was instrumental in helping Cricket become an Olympic sport yet again.
