Indian cricket team are currently in action in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 in Sri Lanka where they will play their first match of the Super 4 stage against Pakistan on September 10 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman looked in a phenomenal touch in the recent contest against Nepal which will help them to perform well against Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the team’s young sensation Gill is celebrating his 24th birthday on September 8. Many fans and cricketers have showered wishes for him on social media. It is believed that Gill is the upcoming future star of the Indian cricket team because of his tremendous records in international that too in just a short span of time.

Born in Fazilka, Punjab, Gill’s first love was cricket. He took up this sport from a young age and his father also wanted the same. The right-handed batsman played an inning of 351 runs in the Inter-State Under-16 tournament of Punjab. This incident happened in the year 2014 i.e. 9 years ago. Not only this, he also made a record partnership of 587 runs with Nirmal Singh. 

Shubman Gill is the youngest player to score an ODI double-century

During the Under-19 cricket, he was the man of the series in the Youth ODI series against England and then made a splash as soon as he came into the Indian team. Gill is just 24 years old, but he has made not one but many records in his name. This is the reason why he is called the future of Indian cricket. 

Gill is the youngest player to score a double-century in ODI. Shubman had played an excellent inning of 208 runs against New Zealand in January this year. Not only this, he has a century in his name at the international level in every format. He is also the youngest batter to do so.

Gill is also set to play his first ODI World Cup in October, where he will be seen opening the innings with Rohit. Gill’s technique and class have helped him to achieve multiple milestones in international cricket. The fans will hope to see him in great touch in the major world tournament as well.
