‘Kehte hein itihaas apne aap ko dohrata hai’ – Fans troll Jos Buttler as he wastes DRS against New Zealand during first T20I

England white-ball skipper Jos Buttler is being getting trolled for wasting one out of two reviews during the first T20I against New Zealand. In the game, the home team, England won the toss and elected to bowl first. Despite being hit for three consecutive sixes by Finn Allen, the Red Brigade managed to take wickets and were in control of the game.

Meanwhile, in the 16th over of the Blackcaps innings, Buttler took a howler of a review. Apparently, Liam Livingstone bowled a yorker and Glenn Phillips just managed to defend it. However, for some strange reason, the England skipper decided to go upstairs. As expected, the third umpire gave it not out. Also, given his expressions, it looked like he did it for a giggle.

Talking about the game, the T20 and ODI World Cup holders thrashed the visitors at Chester-Lee Street. Batting first, the visitors could only manage 139/9. Debutant, Brydon Carse and Luke Wood took three wickets each while Adil Rashid, Liam Livingstone, and Moeen Ali took one each.

In reply, the Three Lions had a poor start but chased down the target. They lost the wicket of Jonny Bairstow early but the likes of Dawid Malan (54) and Harry Brook (43) helped the team chase down the target in just 14 overs with seven wickets in hand.

Jos Buttler did it against Australia in 2020

The wicketkeeper batter did the same against Australia in a T20I game during the COVID-19 in 2020. In that game, Buttler urged the then-skipper Eoin Morgan to take the review against former Australia Aaron Finch. At the time, it was determined that Finch hit the ball. Australia won the ODI series 2-1 and lost 1-2 in the T20I series.
