Indian wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson, despite not being part of India’s ODI World Cup 2023 squad, has been actively involved in various activities during the ongoing tournament. He has been seen participating in advertisements and putting in hard work during practice sessions.

Recently, Samson had the privilege of meeting two iconic wicketkeepers: former Indian captain MS Dhoni and England’s current skipper, Jos Buttler, in Mumbai. Samson shared a picture with both players on his Instagram account with the caption, “2 of my favourites.” Fans appreciated Samson for showing respect to these legendary wicketkeepers.

Ben Stokes is like the spiritual leader of the group: Matthew Mott

While Dhoni, who retired from international cricket in 2020, might have been in Mumbai for promotional activities, Buttler is in the city ahead of England’s upcoming ODI World Cup match against South Africa on October 21. England has keenly felt the absence of star all-rounder Ben Stokes in their team, but there have been hints from England’s head coach Matthew Mott that Stokes may make a comeback against South Africa.

“We’ve obviously been relatively conservative with him, but the medical staff were always confident that South Africa was a game we could target. I haven’t had a report on him in the last 24 hours, but before that, he was on target. So fingers crossed, he can tick off all the things that need to be ticked off and he comes back into that side. He’s like the spiritual leader of the group in many ways, and he certainly spoke really well after the game the other day and spoke about that need to really assert ourselves,” Mott was quoted as saying by Zee News.

“The boys are trying really hard but the two things that we’re probably missing are the confidence – to puff your chest out, go out there and really take the game on – and then it’s just our general attitude, our ability to do the little things: bowl in partnerships when we’re bleeding from one end… and then with the bat, just being a little bit braver,” he said.
