Sandeep Reddy Vanga reveals reason behind not casting Ranbir Kapoor in Kabir Singh

Sandeep Reddy Vanga has revealed the reason behind not casting Ranbir Kapoor as ‘Kabir Singh’ in his Hindi remake of ‘Arjun Reddy’. The talented filmmaker claimed that he had planned to cast Ranbir Kapoor as ‘Kabir Singh’ in the movie. However, a statement from Ranbir ensured that he was not going to take part in the movie. 

Sandeep was in an interview recently where he was asked about casting choices for some of his movies. The question was asked regarding Shahid Kapoor playing the role of ‘Kabir Singh’. Sandeep claimed that Shahid performed exactly the way he wanted the actor to. Following this, the question was directed to Ranbir. 

It was asked why the maker of ‘Animal’ did not opt Ranbir Kapoor as cast for in ‘Kabir Singh’. Sandeep revealed an interesting fact before giving his reason. Vanga claimed that Ranbir had messaged him before selecting the cast. He added that Ranbir had chosen to convey his message through an SMS to the star director in the past.

Sandeep claimed that the habit of checking normal messages has gone away since the emergence of WhatsApp. The maker of ‘Kabir Singh’ added that he stopped checking the SMS, just like most of the users who have switched to WhatsApp. Sandeep said that Ranbir showed him that he had messaged the maker.  

“He (Ranbir Kapoor) SMS-ed me. Ever since WhatsApp has come, the habit of checking SMS has gone. I stopped checking SMS because everyone uses WhatsApp. Ranbir actually showed me the message also I think. Like this, I have missed a lot of people’s messages. Anil ji, Anil Kapoor had also messaged,” said Sandeep in the interview. 

He added that even Anil Kapoor had messaged him on SMS. Sandeep then revealed the reason behind not casting Ranbir. The director of the movie said that Ranbir was not interested in acting in a remake. He claimed it was a reason behind not casting Ranbir in ‘Kabir Singh’. “No, Ranbir very clearly said that he wouldn’t do a remake. So, I knew,” Sandeep stated in the interview.
