The 6th match of the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2023 was played between Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) and MI New York (MINY) at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on Sunday, July 16. The contest turned out to be a humiliating night for the Knight Riders as they suffered an embarrassing loss by 105 runs after getting bundled out on just 50 runs in the 2nd innings.

Talking about the match, MI New York won the toss and opted to bat first. However, the decision proved wrong initially as they lost their first 3 wickets inside the powerplay. The top and middle-order failed miserably. Wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran and allrounder Tim David were the only batters who could contribute something to the scoreboard.

Pooran played a responsible innings of 38 runs off 37 balls which included 1 four and 2 sixes. While Tim went all out on the bowlers and played an unbeaten knock of 48 runs off just 21 deliveries which included 4 fours and as many sixes. Adam Zampa was the star bowler for LAKR as he picked up a fifer.

I definitely enjoyed the second innings: Tim David

The target wasn’t big but little did LAKR know what was coming for them as all their batters displayed a horrible batting performance and got wrapped on just 50 runs. Opener Unmukt Chand was the only batter who could achieve a double-digit score as he played a decent knock of 26 runs. MI New York bowlers took only 13.5 overs to get rid of the LAKR batters. Tim was named Player of the Match for his brilliant knock in a crucial stage, he also talked about his knock in the post-match conference.

“I definitely enjoyed the second innings. The boys put up a fantastic bowling performance and the win helps us improve our NRR. My job is to finish the innings off. It is nice to get a few balls in the middle. We felt we left a few runs out there but it was a fantastic bowling performance, so we will take the two points.” Tim said in the post-match conference.
