This is when matters took an even funnier turn when Ashwin replied, “Gandhiji! Aap kaise ho”. This reply had the social media universe in splits after Ashwin took the comment playfully. Many more parody accounts cropped up and began replying to the Indian cricket star.
Ashwin embarks on huge series versus England –
On Friday, the Indian selectors announced the Team for the Test series versus England. Ravichandran Ashwin is one of the four spinners named for the first two Tests. The 37-year-old is just ten wickets away from capturing 500 Test wickets.
The feat will make Ashwin the second Indian to achieve this feat and the second fastest overall. If Ashwin plays all five games, then the fifth game in Dharamshala will mark his 100th Test for India.
Many cricket fans will hope that Ashwin and Jadeja will play a key role and help India win the series. Ben Stokes will be confident with the ultra-aggressive Baz-Ball method helping England whitewash Pakistan in late 2022.
Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel are the other two spinners in the side which is set to be a huge test for the visitors. Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam will host the first two games, while Rajkot and Ranchi will host the next two matches.
India’s lead spinner was recently seen on YouTube giving a befitting reply to Michael Vaughan. The former England skipper had questioned India’s inability to win major tournaments despite making it to the finals.
To this Ashwin said “Michael Vaughan made a statement after the first Test that India is an underachieving team. Yes, we haven’t won for years. We call ourselves the powerhouses of the game. But the Test team has been one of the best travelling teams in the vicinity. We have seen many great results,”
As the days get closer it will be interesting to see how Ashwin tackles the threat of the English batters. Meanwhile, the fans don’t want Ashwin to stop showing his hilarious side on social media.
