Yashasvi Jaiswal impressed many with his performance in the 2nd innings of the third Test against England. It took a little over a session and a half for the youngster to get to his hundred, which was incredible. In his stay in the middle, Jaiswal scored 104 runs before getting retired hurt. Jaiswal suffered back pain and returned to the pavilion.

The Southpaw hammered the England attack for fun and registered his third Test hundred. If necessary, Jaiswal can come out to bat and score some runs for India on the 4th day. After India ended the day with a score of 196/2 after 51 overs, Ravi Shastri spoke to the broadcasters. Much like others, Shastri was impressed with the way Jaiswal has batted in the series so far.

Shastri praised the fielding efforts of Jaiswal in the ongoing Test and felt that he could be one of the part-time bowling options for India in the days to come. Shastri claimed that Yashasvi could spin the ball either way and added he could bowl medium pace if required. Shastri praised the athleticism of the youngster on the field. The former Indian coach then made a huge comparison about the talented batter.

Jaiswal reminds me of a young Tendulkar’ – Ravi Shastri

Shastri claimed that the way Jaiswal helps India to bail out from tough situations reminds him of the young Sachin Tendulkar. He added that Jaiswal is a busy player and felt him an example of the saying ‘If you believe in yourself, there is hope’. Speaking after the 3rd day at Rajkot, the winner of the ODI World Cup 1983 felt that nothing is impossible for the 22-year-old.

“Jaiswal reminds me of a young Tendulkar. Busy all the time. This is a classic example of the saying ‘If you believe in yourself, there is hope’. Nothing is impossible. That’s just a word. He will be constantly involved,” added the former Indian cricketer in his statement. Shubman Gill and Kuldeep Yadav saw India home with their batting efforts towards the end of the 3rd day.
