Bhuvneshwar Kumar has made an incredible comeback in domestic cricket. The Indian pacer returned to the Ranji Trophy after more than 5 years and showed what he had in him. On the first day of his return, Bhuvneshwar managed to claim a fifer. It proved that the right-arm pacer has still a lot of cricket left in him. The fans were impressed by his spell.

In the Ranji Trophy 2024, Uttar Pradesh are up against Bengal at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. As the name suggests, the wicket at Green Park was green and offered a lot of assistance for the pacers on the first day. The pacers from Bengal realized the nature of the pitch and thrived on it. Bengal got the toss advantage and made no hesitation to bowl first.

In the very first session of the match, Bengal dismissed UP for a paltry total of 60 runs. The pace trio of Ishan Porel, Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal, and Mohammed Kaif were at the batters. The trio took just 125 balls to get rid of the batters. Porel claimed 2/25 in his 7 overs. Jaiswal claimed 3/20 in his 8 overs. Kaif finished with figures of 4/14 in his spell of five overs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar shines on return

Replying to the first innings total of UP, the visiting side seemed determined to have their say in the match. In the challenging conditions, the opening duo of West Bengal posted 32 runs for the first wicket. That was when Bhuvneshwar showed his magic. The experienced pacer displayed an incredible skill of swing bowling and trapped the batters for fun. It was a much-required spell on the day for UP.

He was constantly bowling in the stump line and gave no room for the batters. It is very evident in the way he got the batters out. Most of them were either LBW or bowled. Even the catches were taken in the slip cordon. Kumar was the only wicket-taker for UP on the day. From 32/1 at one stage, Bengal has been reduced to 95/5 at the end of the 1st day of the match.
