Pakistan suffered a resounding defeat at the hands of Australia in the first match of the three-match Test series in Perth on Sunday, December 17. The defeat, marked by a massive margin of 360 runs, left former cricketer and current PCB chairman, Ramiz Raja, showing no mercy as he took to social media to express his profound disappointment.

Raja took to social media and said that there was no intent and technique in Pakistan’s batting. While criticising the performance of the Pakistan team, he didn’t forget to appreciate Australia’s all-round display. Raja’s unfiltered disappointment on social media reflects the high expectations and the stark reality of Pakistan’s performance in the match.

“Intent and technique were both missing from Pak’s ‘resistance menu’. Blown away in just 31overs in the second knock was disappointing. Aussies were on another level…,” Raja wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter)

Brilliant all-round performance by the Australian team

Talking about the match, opting to bat first after winning the toss, Australia set the stage for their victory with a commanding first innings total of 487 runs. David Warner‘s exceptional century added significant weight to the Kangaroos’ innings, despite Aamer Jamal’s noteworthy bowling performance, claiming 6 wickets to disrupt the Australian batting lineup.

In response, Pakistan struggled to match Australia’s intensity, posting a total of 271 runs in their first innings. While Imam-ul-Haq showcased resilience with his 62-run contribution, all the Australian bowlers played their part in restricting Pakistan to under 300 runs.

The second innings brought more misery for Pakistan as a crucial partnership between Usman Khawaja and Marsh defied the Pakistani bowlers’ attempts to stage a comeback. Australia declared their innings on 233 runs, setting a daunting target for Pakistan.

Facing a challenging chase, Pakistan succumbed to the relentless Australian bowling attack, managing only 89 runs in 30.2 overs. The Kangaroos’ bowlers orchestrated a clinical display, bundling out the Pakistani team and securing a comprehensive victory with a massive margin of 360 runs. As the series progresses, the Men in Green will need to regroup and reassess their strategies to mount a comeback and avoid a series whitewash.
