Ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 in June this year, India has played all of their T20I assignments. They played a five-match series against Australia at home, followed by a three-match series in South Africa and as many games against Afghanistan at home. Now, the Indian players who will be bound for the World Cup will play the IPL 2024 before the World Event.

During these series, the team played 10 games excluding the one washed out in the Rainbow Nation. As the team tried a few players and didn’t have enough series to prepare, head coach Rahul Dravid has decided to keep his cards close to his chest.

We have got quite a few keeping options: Rahul Dravid

The former India skipper spoke about the wicketkeeping options for the showpiece event after the third T20I against Afghanistan. Dravid said that the likes of Sanju Samson, Jiesth Sharma, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, and Rishabh Pant are in the mix.

“We’ve got quite a few keeping options. We saw a couple of guys in this series, whether it is Sanju, or Jitesh. You speak about Rahul, there is Ishan, Rishabh… all of them are in the mix. We just have to see how things pan out in the course of next few months and then we can take a call what’s the best way to go,” he said after India’s thrilling win in the final T20I in Bengaluru.

Meanwhile, only two wicketkeeping options may be selected for the tournament. While Pant continues to recover from the accident he had last year, Kishan is yet to come out of the mental health break. On the other hand, KL Rahul hasn’t played at T20I since T20 World Cup 2022. On the other hand, Sharma and Samson can bat in the middle-order.
