Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 for an indefinite period. Apparently, ahead of the team’s next match against their Ashes rivals, England on November 4, he has flown home for personal reasons. As per the release by Cricket Australia (CA), there is no timeline defined for his return to the team.

“Australian allrounder Mitchell Marsh has returned home from the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 late last night for personal reasons,” the statement said. “A timeline on his return to the squad is to be confirmed. No further detail will be offered at this time.”

This news came after Glenn Maxwell was ruled out of the same match due to concussion. Apparently, while going out for a golf session, he fell off the golf vehicle on October 30. Talking about their replacements, no one has been called from outside of the squad as of now. After all, the likes of Marcus Stoinis and Cameron Green can replace them.

The former had a minor calf issue that made him miss the matches against the likes of Netherlands and New Zealand. Also, given the kind of surfaces in the ongoing tournament, Stoinis might bowl again although it depends on his fitness. Marsh didn’t bowl much during the tournament. Also, Green will become another bowling option in place of Maxwell
