Production Crew wearing Blackarm Bands

During Day Two of the ongoing fourth Test of the India vs England 2024 Test series, the production crew was seen wearing black arm bands. During Day One, senior cameraperson, Kamalanadimuthu Thiruvalluvan, popularly known as Thiru, passed away due to unknown reasons. On that day, the inaugural match of the Women’s Premier League 2024 was played between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals.

Notably, the recently departed worked as the camera person during the last-ball thriller. The board hasn’t disclosed the reasons for his death. Thiru was one of those people in India who saw the revolution of cricket broadcasting in India from ground zero. He has seen players such as Sachin Tendulkar to Virat Kohli and Mithali Raj to Harmanpreet Kaur during his days. Meanwhile, in a video uploaded by the board, one of the camera persons from the India vs England series was seen wearing black arm bands.

“The Board production crew wore black armbands in memory of Thiru who passed away yesterday. Our heart goes out to his near and dear ones and the Board offers it’s condolences to his family,” the Indian Cricket Board mentioned in their tweet.

Harsha Bhogle expressed his shock over the news

The popular and veteran commentator has expressed his shock over the death of the Camera 5 responsibility holder.

“Absolutely shocking news. The ever smiling Thiru was a top man. At a time when Indian cameramen weren’t yet rated, Thiru made the mid-wicket camera all his own and was excellent. Everytime we met, I would sing out his full name and he would offer his toothy smile in return. Terrible news,” Bhogle tweeted.

Talking about the India vs England fourth Test, the Three Lions batted first and reached 353 all-out, after being reduced to 112/5. In reply, the home team was reduced to 177/7 late on Day Two. In the ongoing Day Three, the team has reached 307 with Dhruv Jurel scoring a 90 and Kuldeep Yadav (28 off 131) contributing to the cause.
