Popular TV show ‘CID’ actor Dinesh Phadnis passes away due to liver damage at 57 years of age

The entertainment industry is mourning the loss of veteran actor Dinesh Phadnis, renowned for his iconic portrayal of ‘Fredericks’ in the long-running TV series CID. The 57-year-old actor breathed his last on Saturday, succumbing to multiple organ failure. Confirmed by fellow CID actor Dayanand Shetty aka ‘Daya’, who shared the heartbreaking news with a renowned media house, the actor’s demise occurred at 12.08 am.

Initially, reports surfaced suggesting a cardiac arrest as the cause, but Shetty clarified that it was, in fact, liver failure that led to Phadnis’s deteriorating health. Shetty emphasised the importance of caution when taking medications, revealing that adverse reactions to a prescribed medicine had severely impacted Phadnis’s liver. He urged people to be meticulous about their choice and intake of allopathic medicines, emphasizing the unforeseen risks associated with certain treatments.

Phadnis, a familiar face in Indian households due to his two-decade stint in CID, made a significant impact with his role as Fredericks. CID, which first aired in 1998 and ran for an impressive 20 years on Sony TV, became one of the most beloved crime shows in the country. Phadnis’s contribution to the show endeared him to fans nationwide.

Apart from his television success, Phadnis showcased his versatility by taking on supporting roles in popular films such as Super 30 and Sarfarosh. Additionally, he made a guest appearance in the widely acclaimed television series, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.

The actor’s last rites were scheduled to take place at 10.30 am in Mumbai on December 5, marking the end of an era for those who admired and cherished Dinesh Phadnis for his on-screen presence and talent. As the industry and fans bid farewell, his legacy lives on through the memories created during his remarkable career.
