ODI World Cup 2023: Anushka Sharma comes up with new name for Virat Kohli post India’s win against New Zealand
Former India skipper Virat Kohli played a massive role in India winning against New Zealand in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. Apparently, since the 2003 ODI World Cup, the Men In Blue never won against the Blackcaps in World events. The last three losses (2019 semifinal, 2021 WTC final, and T20 World Cup 2021 Super 12) scarred the Asian side and its fans in the last few years.
Talking about the game, the two-time winners won the toss and elected to bowl first. They took two wickets for 19 runs. At this stage, the likes of Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell put together 159 runs for the third wicket. After this partnership was broken, the last seven wickets fell for the next 95 runs, and the team was bowled out for 273 runs.
In reply, the Men In Blue were reduced to 191/5. At this stage, the likes of Virat (95) and Ravindra Jadeja (39*) put together 78 runs for the sixth wicket. The latter scored the winning runs, ending the 20-year drought. Meanwhile, after the game, the former India skipper’s wife and Bollywood actress and Producer, Anushka Sharma came up with a new nickname for his beau.

India and New Zealand skippers praised Virat Kohli’s efforts
After the game, India skipper Rohit Sharma said that Kohli has been winning the matches for the team for many years.
“Nothing much to say about Virat. We’ve seen him do this for so many years. He backs himself to do the job. Towards the end there was a bit of pressure with a few wickets lost, but Kohli and Jadeja took us home,” the India skipper said.
On the other hand, New Zealand stand-in skipper Tom Latham said that no plan works against Kohli
“Kohli played a fantastic innings. Controlled the tempo and the rest could bat around him. Think about match-ups. Virat has a response to most plans.”
