Afghanistan has announced its squad for the T20I series against India. The squad of the Asian side consists of some of the most talented players in the world. The series between the two teams will be the last assignment of India before the T20 World Cup 2024. India is also likely to announce its squad for the series against Afghanistan by the end of the day, which is likely to have some big names.

The series between India and Afghanistan will be the first-ever bilateral series between the two teams in limited-overs formats. India has only played a solitary Test in the past against the Asian side. Barring that, the two teams have faced each other only in the major tournaments organized by the Apex board or the Asai Cup games. Hence, it will be a good chance for the players from both sides.

Afghanistan will be beneficial with the series. Ahead of a big tournament like the T20 WC 2024, the Asian side will get a good experience of getting exposure against a strong side like India. Afghanistan would be aiming to make a big mark in the series against India and in the T20 WC 2024 like they did in the recently concluded ODI WC 2023.

Ibrahim Zadran to lead Afghanistan against India

Afghanistan has named a youngster like Ibrahim Zadran as their captain for the series against India. The youngster is handed the responsibility of leading Afghanistan in the series. Apart from him, there are many other talented batters in the team like Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Hazratullah Zazai, Ikram Alikhil, Rahmat Shah, Najibullah Zadran and others. The challenge for them would be big.

There are some very good All-rounders in their lineup like Gulbadin Naib, Rashid Khan, Karim Janat, Mohammad Nabi, and Azmatullah Omarzai. There are also some quality bowlers in the squad like Naveen-ul-Haq, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Mujeeb Zadran, Noor Ahmad, and Qais Ahmad. There are some other players like S Ashraf, F Malik, and N Saleem who would be playing their first game against a top side like India.
