WATCH: Rahmanullah Gurbaz donates money among needy people in Ahmedabad streets
Afghanistan opening batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz was recorded distributing money to the needy people in the streets of Ahmedabad. His team was in Ahmedabad for their last ODI World Cup 2023 match against South Africa. Thanks to New Zealand winning by a major margin against Sri Lanka, the Afghans needed to win by 438 runs against the Proteas. This was always going to be an impossible scenario to achieve.
Meanwhile, in the game, the four-time semifinalists won the game by five wickets to end their league stage. The Temba Bavuma-led side will play the second semifinal of the tournament against Australia on November 16. After all, both teams finished second and third in the points table. On the other hand, the Afghans finished the tournament with four wins, their best ODI World Cup performance.
Meanwhile, in a video that is going viral, the opening batter was seen distributing money to the people sleeping in the streets of Ahmedabad.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz thanked the Indian crowd for their support
During the tournament, the Asian side beat the likes of England, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the Netherlands. Had they won against Bangladesh, they might still had a realistic chance to play the semifinal despite losing to Australia after reducing them to 91/7. During the tournament, Afghanistan enjoyed a lot of support from the Indian fans apart from their game against India.
“I want to congratulate all the Afghanistan supporters and especially want to thank the Indian fans for coming out and supporting us.”
In their third ODI World Cup, they won four games. In the last two World Cups, they had won only one game, that too in the 2015 edition.
