Mohammed Siraj loses his number 1 ranking as new player takes the top spot

Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has lost his world number 1 ranking as far as bowling goes. The 29-year-old had moved to the top spot just last week along with Shubman Gill who had moved to number 1 in the table for batters.

Mohammed Siraj along with the Indian team is set to face New Zealand on Wednesday. it is a huge game for India as they play the first semi-finals of the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The 29-year-old will be at the forefront of India’s bowling unit as he hopes to help India reach the finals. The last time India played in the final of a World Cup was in 2011 against Sri Lanka under MS Dhoni in Mumbai.

Mohammed Siraj loses his top spot –

Star Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj has slipped to the number two position in the ODI bowlers rankings. Keshav Maharaj has taken the spot after his impressive bowling spells during the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament.

The South African spinner has 726 points and leads the Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj by just three points. Australian bowler Adam Zampa is at number three position with 695 points. Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav both moved two spots higher to be placed at number four and five.

Mohammed Shami lost one spot as he slipped to 12th in the table with 625 points. Shaheen Shah Afridi is still in the 9th place after his below-par showing during the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament.

Keshav Maharaj has played 14 games this year and picked 23 wickets with the ball. His best of 4/33 against Australia at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. The left-arm spinner has picked 14 wickets during the ongoing ODI World Cup with a best of 4/46 against New Zealand in Pune.

Mohammed Siraj on the other hand has had a great 2023 season as he picked 42 wickets from 23 games. The 29-year-old blew away the Sri Lankan batting to pick 6/21 in the Asia Cup 2023 final to bowl out the hosts for just 50 runs. Siraj had picked 12 wickets so far in the ODI World Cup 2023 campaign.
