Michael Vaughan has ‘appreciated’ India for preparing a helpful pitch for England. On the second day of the match between India and England in Ranchi, the visiting side had the upper hand at one point, having reduced India to 171/6. That was when the former England batter took to his social media handle and commented about the pitch.

India have completely brought England into the game preparing a pitch like this … much appreciated … #INDvENG,” wrote Vaughan on X. The pitch reacted entirely differently on the first and the second day of the Test. While the first day did not have as much assistance for the bowlers, the second day saw an incredible change in the nature of the pitch.

The first day saw a normal bounce and the batters found it easy to bat in the second and third sessions. Joe Root and co did not face a mental battle due to the nature of the pitch. However, on the 2nd day, there was uneven bounce. There were a lot of deliveries which were kept low. And the match has not even gone to the third day, which is a concern. There has been criticism from the fans regarding the pitch.

Michael Vaughan changes his opinion on Ranchi pitch

It looks like Vaughan’s opinion changed based on the performance of England on the second day. After looking at the pitch for the first time, Vaughan took to X and claimed the pitch to be a ‘Shocker’. However, he seems to have a change in opinion after the way England played on the 2nd day of the match. He now terms it a ‘helpful’ pitch.

“The old saying.. Do not judge a pitch till both teams have batted and bowled on it.. but let’s be honest.. this one looks a shocker,” wrote Vaughan on X. The fans have exposed the hypocrisy of the former England skipper. They have felt that the opinion of the experts should not change with how a team plays. England got seven important wickets of India on the 2nd day.
