Meet IPL franchise owner with family’s net worth of INR 19,000 crores, finding coach for 17th edition
After the Hyderabad-based Deccan Chargers team was terminated from the Indian Premier League (IPL), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) was established in 2012. SRH was chosen as its name because Sun TV is its owner. They made their debut in 2013 as underdogs and entered the tournament and ended in the 4th place.
Meanwhile, Kaviya Maran, the CEO and co-owner of SRH and the daughter of the Sun Group owner Kalanithi Maran has been the face of SRH over the years. She attends almost every match of SRH when the team play as a host, however, she also tries to support her team from the stands even if the match is away from home.
She often remains in the headlines whenever the cameraman starts focusing on her from the stands and the next day, she becomes the hot topic on social media. There was an incident during the recently concluded 16th edition of IPL, where the cameraman was constantly focusing on her and she started getting irritated with it. She asked the cameraman to move the focus and concentrate on the match instead.
Kaviya’s family background
SRH won the IPL championship in 2016 when they defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the final match. They also went to the finals in 2018 but got defeated by Chennai Super Kings. However, after finishing at the bottom of the points table, the franchise is now hunting for a new coach for the 17th edition of the league.
Coming back to Kaviya, she is also actively involved in the SUN TV Network’s commercial activities. She received a degree in business from Stella Maris College in Chennai and an MBA from Warwick Business School in the United Kingdom.
She was born on August 6, 1992, to Kalanithi and Kavery Maran in Chennai. Her family is very renowned and powerful. Her mother is one of the best businesswomen as she is the CEO of Solar TV Community Restricted. Kavya’s family also includes several individuals with extensive political connections. According to Jan Bharat Times, Kaviya’s net worth is believed to be approximately INR 409 crores. With a net worth of INR 19,000 crores, her father Kalanithi also topped the Tamil Nadu IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List for 2019.
