DC Women beat RCB women comprehensively by 25 runs in the WPL 2024. With the result of the match, no side is unbeaten in the league at the moment. DC women were impressive in all the facets of the game. RCB were poor in the death overs and in the middle overs while batting, which cost them the match despite winning the toss.

Smriti Mandhana opted to bowl first and saw RCB get a good start. After getting rid of Meg Lanning, RCB failed to capitalize on it. Alice Capsey and Shafali Verma played good knocks to up the ante in the middle overs. Capsey attacked the spinners with her reverse sweeps. Shafali displayed her brute strength and smashed a lot of boundaries. RCB’s spinners were totally clueless.

While RCB managed to get both of them in quick succession, who had already done enough damage and even managed to get Jemimah Rodriguez, the duo of Marizanne Kapp and Jess Jonassen further frustrated RCB women with their finishing. The duo helped DC women to add a whopping 70 runs in the last five overs, probably the phase where RCB lost the game. As a result, RCB had to chase a mammoth score of 195.

Smriti Mandhana impressive in the faltered run chase

Barring Smriti Mandhana, no other batter seemed to take the game away from DC women. The Southpaw looked clear to win the game for her side. In the PP overs, the RCB skipper hammered the bowlers for fun. Her fifty kept RCB in the game and saved the home side from an embarrassing loss. However, her dismissal opened the floodgates for DC women. Ellyse Perry was missed by the home side.

Barring Mandhana, other batters lacked intent and could not stay longer. Richa Ghosh and Sophie Devine tried their bit. But in the process of scoring at a quick rate, they ended up losing their wickets. S Meghana could not hit boundaries from her end and showed a lack of intent to chase down the total. Kapp’s all-round brilliance helped DC women to clinch a big win over RCB women in their own backyard.
