‘Le bana diya tujhe no. 1 bowler’ – Fans react as Heinrich Klaasen smashes Rashid Khan for 26 runs in single over in MLC

MI New York and Seattle Orcas clashed against each other in the 15th match of the ongoing Major League Cricket 2023 at Church Street Park in Morrisville on Tuesday, July 25. Fans witnessed a high-scoring contest between the two teams, however, Orcas managed to win the match by 2 wickets in the end.

Meanwhile, Seattle Orcas wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen displayed a magnificent batting performance against MI. However, what caught the attention of many fans was Klassen hitting 26 runs in an over of Rashid Khan. The leg-spinner was bowling well until he came to bowl his last over in the 16th over of the 2nd innings. Klaasen hit 3 sixes and a four against the current greatest bowler of the shortest format.

Talking about the match, Orcas won the toss and opted to bowl first. The decision worked initially as they sent two New York batters back to the pavilion inside the powerplay. But then came the Caribbean powerhouse Nicholas Pooran, who smashed 68 runs off just 34 deliveries which included 3 fours and 7 sixes.

Brilliant batting performance by Heinrich Klaasen

Skipper Kieron Pollard and tailender Trent Boult also produced quick cameos and helped the team to achieve a monumental total of 194 runs in 20 overs. Imad Wasim produced a magnificent spell in which he took 2 wickets while conceding just 23 runs in his 4 overs quota. Harmeet Singh also managed to take 2 wickets after leaking 21 runs in 3 overs.

Chasing the target, the Orcas started similarly to MI as they also lost their first two wickets inside the powerplay. However, despite losing 2 early wickets, Nauman Anwar and Henrich Klassen continued to bat aggressively. Anwar departed in the 11th over after playing a brilliant knock of 51 runs off just 30 balls which included 6 fours and 3 sixes.

But Klassen emerged as the hero for his team and overshadowed every batter. He smashed an outstanding century and played a knock of 110 runs which came off just 44 deliveries including 9 fours and 7 sixes. The Orcas kept losing wickets from the other end but Klassen didn’t lose his concentration and took his team a mind-blowing 2-wicket victory.
