Pat Cummins won the Player of the Month award for December 2024. The Australian pacer was rewarded for his performances against Pakistan both as a player and as a captain. In December, Pat was very good as a bowler and as a leader for Australia, which helped Australia to win the Test series against Pakistan. It helped Australia gain crucial points in the WTC cycle 3.

Pakistan toured Australia for a 3-match Test series in December 2023 and January 2024. Australia picked a full-strength squad for the series. It happened to be the farewell series of David Warner. The three Test matches happened in Perth, Melbourne, and Sydney respectively. The first two matches of the series happened in December. At Perth, Australia won the match by a huge margin of 360 runs.

Pat was brilliant as a leader in the match with his bowling changes, planning, and fieldsets. With the ball, Cummins bowled 20 overs in the first innings and claimed 2 wickets including 7 maiden overs. Batting first, Australia scored 318 runs. Replying to it, Pakistan managed to score 264 runs. At one stage, they were 124/1 with two set batters in the middle. that was when Cummins bowled a sensational spell and inflicted the collapse. From 124/1 at one stage, Pakistan collapsed to 264 runs, losing 9 wickets for just 140 runs. Cummins ended up claiming a fifer. In his 20 overs, Cummins claimed 5 wickets and conceded only 48 runs.

The Australian captain got the wickets of star batters like Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan after getting rid of Abdullah Shafique. In the 2nd innings, Cummins dismissed Imam-ul-Haq, Shan Masood, and Rizwan on his way to the 2nd fifer of the match. In 18 overs in the second innings, Cummins conceded 49 runs and claimed 5 wickets. In the process, the star pacer claimed a 10-wicket haul in the match.
