India’s star allrounder Hardik Pandya is currently nursing an ankle injury that he suffered during the India vs. Bangladesh match in Pune. Consequently, he missed the game against New Zealand in Dharamsala on October 22. While some initially expected him to return after one match, it now appears that he may also miss the upcoming games against England and Sri Lanka.

The star allrounder is now likely to miss India’s game against England and Sri Lanka. The Men in Blue will face the defending champions on October 29 in Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium while their clash against Sri Lanka will take place on November 2 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Hardik didn’t travel with the Indian team to Dharamsala as he was advised to rest by the Indian Cricket Board. He will also not travel with the team to Pune but will join them in Mumbai. Meanwhile, a source from the Indian Cricket Board revealed that the injury is not serious and is more of a precaution at this stage.

“Yes, Hardik is likely to miss the next match vs England in Lucknow. It is more of a precaution at this stage and nothing serious,” an Indian Cricket Board source was quoted as saying by News 18.

India are currently the table topper in ODI World Cup 2023 points table

Talking about the Indian team, they are the only side in the ongoing tournament who have not lost a single game yet. The 2011 World Cup champions have played 5 matches till now and have won all of them. It’d be interesting to see if they make their way to knockouts without getting beaten.

The match against New Zealand was highly anticipated since India had not defeated the Blackcaps in a major world tournament since 2023. With outstanding performances from Mohammed Shami, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli, the Indian team overcame New Zealand, ending a 20-year wait for victory over them.
