South Africa seem to be ahead of India at the end of the first Day in the first Test. The wicket at SuperSport Park in Centurion has behaved exactly the way it was expected. Everything was in the expected lines on the first day. Rain interrupted the play and ensured that the Test match saw a delayed start and an abrupt ending towards the end.

Before it could happen, two individuals stole the day with their performances. Kagiso Rabada with the ball and KL Rahul with the bat displayed excellent skills and helped their teams to surge ahead in the Test. The nature of the wicket meant that India had collapsed at the very beginning. India was reduced to 25/3 in no time. Burger was brilliant with the ball on debut.

But the star of the day was Kagiso, who claimed some of the big wickets like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shreyas Iyer. He then claimed the wickets of Shardul Thakur and Ravichandran Ashwin. In his spell of 17 overs, Rabada ended with figures of 5/44 with 3 maiden overs to his name. Indian batters found him difficult to play. The star pacer rattled the Indian batting.

Application of KL Rahul in the middle

But one man tried to apply himself in the middle. KL Rahul was fantastic on the first Day. The WK batter of India played some exquisite drives and hit some big blows as well. In his stay in the middle, the star batter has already scored 70 runs in 105 balls which has featured 7 fours and 2 sixes. Rahul batted with intent and helped India to stay alive in the game.

The most impressive thing about the knock of Rahul was his strike rotation. He knew when exactly to take the singles and hit boundaries. Both the acts by the batter ensured that the bowlers missed their lengths. It played well for India, as Rahul was able to get some looseners. Along with Siraj and Bumrah, the star batter batted well and took India to a score of 208/8 at the end of Day one.
