‘Itta bhi selfless nhi khelna tha yrr’ – Fans fume at India skipper Rohit Sharma for throwing his wicket early in first Test, Jaiswal also fails
In the first Test of the ongoing series, India faced South Africa at Centurion. Amid cloudy weather, the match started with a delay of 30 minutes as the South African skipper asked India to bat first. However, India had a poor start as skipper Rohit Sharma found himself walking back to the pavilion early. Looking rusty in his innings, Rohit was dismissed by star Proteas pacer Kagiso Rabada for a mere 5 runs.
Rabada, who delivered a well-planned short-of-length delivery aimed at Rohit’s body, got the best of him. Rohit, known for his mastery of handling short-pitched deliveries, seemed caught off guard this time as he found Nandre Burger at Deep Square Leg. While Rohit fumed at himself for the poor shot selection, Rabada, with a wry smile on his face, acknowledged the success of his strategic bowling.
Earlier in the match, South African captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and elected to bowl first. The match embarked on test journeys for three players as hosts playing XI featured two debutants: Nandre Burger and David Bedingham. On the Indian side, Prasidh Krishna was making his debut as he got a chance in the absence of Mohammed Shami.
Yashasvi Jaiswal also fails to cook an early start
Another Indian opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal, fails to convert a start into big runs. After Rohit’s departure, he was sent back too. He became the maiden Test wicket of debutant Nandre Burger. Jaiswal, in his inning, scored 17 runs off 37 balls with the help of four boundaries. His departure left India struggling early in the game, as the team lost two wickets for 23 runs in ten overs.
Star India batters Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill are at a crease trying to rescue India after a disastrous start. It’s worth noting that in the last 31 years and eight bilateral series, India has failed to beat South Africa on their home soil. It will be an uphill task for the Indian team to make it count this time.
Here is how fans react to Rohit Sharma’s departure:
Har jagah selfless intent se nai khelna hota. And then when we criticise this people abuse us.

Christmas gift by Rohit on boxing day to SA. Soft dismissal. Again brings to the point. Likes playing the short ball gets out to it. Ego dismissal.🤦🏻♂️
Only Rohit Sharma can get Rohit Sharma out. 🤷🏻♂️
