Karthik Meiyappan, a leg-spinner for the United Arab Emirates (UAE), was born on October 8 of 2000. He presently represents the UAE national cricket team at the age of 22. The right-arm legbreak bowler made history by becoming the first player to take a hat-trick in the Australia-hosted T20 World Cup in 2022 and the fifth player to ever get a hat-trick in a T20 World cup.

He was bowling for the UAE against Sri Lanka when he struck out the middle order batsmen Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Charith Asalanka, and Sri Lanka’s captain Dasun Shanaka to record his first hat-trick.

Witness the history here.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) put on an excellent bowling effort in the middle overs, allowing Sri Lanka to conclude the first innings at 152/8 after 20 overs. Karthik Meiyappan became the first bowler to take a hat-trick at the T20 World Cup 2022.

Meiyappan concluded his four-over stint with three wickets and 19 runs conceded. The young man’s celebration after scoring three goals was on fire as adrenaline flowed through him.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Nissanka were batting in the middle during the fifteenth over. When the leg-spinner decided to shake the middle order with three googlies in a row to get the hat-trick, Sri Lanka was 114/2.

The first fish he caught was Rajapaksa, followed by the left-hander Asalanka, and then the captain Dasun Shanaka, who he bowled in for a duck. At the ICC Academy Ground, Karthik played in his first T20I against Ireland.
