Prominent filmmaker and producer Karan Johar has recently addressed the controversy surrounding statements made by actress Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh on the eighth season of ‘Koffee With Karan.’ The couple’s appearance on the popular talk show in October sparked a wave of criticism and trolling on social media.

Johar, the show’s host, has strongly defended the couple against the hate comments and trolls, expressing his frustration and using forceful language to denounce those who targeted the couple after the episode was aired online.

“They (Deepika and Ranveer) were outstandingly honest. They were earnest. They spoke so much. They shared so much. They were so gracious. And then you’re f****** talking about some nonsense. I am like, what do you know about somebody else’s personal life and marriage? Tu apne ghar pe dekh na (Look at what’s happening at your own home) is what I wanted to tell them. I wanted to show them my f****** middle finger. I am like, you know, just shut up.” Johar was quoted as saying by NDTV Movies.

“They’re talking to me about my sexuality, they talk to me about being a single parent, they bring up my kids, that one really f******. They talk about my mother having raised me not well enough to take that decision right. I’m like who the f*** are you,” he added.

The trolls targeted Deepika after her surprising revelation that she had met numerous people while dating Ranveer simultaneously. However, the statement received negative reactions on social media, resulting in severe trolling of the actress.

“I wanted to be single for a while because I had come from difficult relationships. I was going through a phase where I said ‘I just don’t want to be attached, don’t want to be committed’. And I had fun! And then he comes along, so I didn’t commit, until he proposed to me. There was no ‘commitment as such. Even if we were technically allowed to see other people, we would just keep coming back to each other.” Deepika was quoted as saying by Koimoi.
