‘Kahin Trophy Sri Lanka me hi na bhool jaye’ – Fans react as Rohit Sharma forgets his passport in Colombo hotel post Asia Cup 2023 triumph

Rohit Sharma and his men won the Asia Cup 2023 on 17 September after thrashing Sri Lanka by 10 wickets. Before the upcoming ODI World Cup, this was a major victory and fans were in a joyful mood. But, a video went viral where Rohit Sharma was seen confused in the team bus as he forgot his passport in the Colombo hotel while leaving.

However, a support staff gave it back to him and the team’s departure got delayed. Seeing that video, fans shared their views on social media. However, Rohit is known for forgetting things as Virat Kohli spoke about that habit of his in a 5-year-old video. Kohli said: “The number of things Rohit Sharma forgets; I have never seen anyone else so forgetful.”

After the win, Rohit attended a press conference and spoke about the challenging pitches he and his team faced leading into the ODI World Cup. He said: “Honestly I was a little surprised at how much the wicket did. Because we didn’t expect the wicket to do that much. That’s been the nature of this ground [R Premadasa Stadium], you have to be prepared for unexpected things. Those are the challenges you come across as sportsmen. In conditions like this you don’t know exactly what the right score is, what the winning score is.”

“We defended 213 against Sri Lanka [and it was enough in the Super 4s] but the other day we couldn’t chase 266 [against Bangladesh], and today we bowled them out for 50. So, the nature of the pitches here has been challenging, unexpected as well. I mean when the pitch had so much to offer, we needed guys who have the skill to exploit that,” he further added.

“Siraj has to be specially mentioned here, when the pitch is looking that dry, to get the ball to move around like that is a special skillset. I hope he continues that for a little longer, at the same time we just need to look after all the bowlers, make sure they’re fresh, and keep them ready for the games in front of us now,” Rohit Sharma concluded.
