West Indian powerhouse Kieron Pollard has been included in the English coaching. The moves comes into place keeping the 2024 T20 World Cup in mind. West Indies and the United States of America are set to host the event in June 2024.

England are the defending T20 World Champions having won the tournament in 2022 beating Pakistan in the final. Jos Buttler and his side had just lost the five-match T20I series to West Indies recently.

Kieron Pollard is a huge name in the T20 format having played a key role in several wins for his national side. Apart from his achievements with the West Indian setup, Pollard is also a legend in franchise cricket.

England appoint Kieron Pollard to the coaching staff –

On Sunday it was confirmed by the English Board that former West Indian player Kieron Pollard has been given a new role. The 36-year-old will join the coaching staff for the 2024 T20 World Cup to be held in June next year.

The release from the English board read “Former West Indian captain Kieron Pollard has been appointed to the England Men’s coaching team  for next year’s 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the United States”

As per the statement, the move is to help the English team, get used to the local conditions. “Pollard will join the England Men’s team specifically for the T20 World Cup as an assistant coach and to provide expertise of the local conditions”

After retiring from international cricket in 2022, Kieron Pollard is still active on the cricket circuit. The former West Indian skipper is still playing in the franchise leagues across the world. Kieron Pollard is also associated with the Mumbai Indians team as a batting coach. The West Indian was a huge part of the MI franchise helping them win 5 IPL titles.

During his career, Kieron Pollard has played 101 T20I games for West Indies and scored 1569 runs. Pollard hit six half-centuries with a strike rate of 135 with 94 fours and 99 career sixes. With the ball, Kieron Pollard has picked 42 wickets with the best of 4/25 with an economy rate of 8.32 per over.
