Indian Cricket Board’s key member Jay Shah has sent out a huge warning to Indian players. The 35-year-old has urged the out-of-favour players to make themselves available for domestic cricket.

Recently Ishan Kishan has paid no heed to regular calls from Rahul Dravid to play domestic cricket. The 25-year-old was last seen with Hardik and Krunal Pandya during a training session at Kiran More Academy.

Jay Shah during a ceremony in Rajkot also confirmed India’s T20I captain for the 2024 World Cup. The 36-year-old was rumoured to be replaced by Hardik Pandya for the huge event in June.

Jay Shah speaks out on players missing domestic cricket duty

Indian cricketers who are out with injury or attempting to come back were warned by Jay Shah. The curious case of Ishan Kishan comes to mind after he has shown no interest in playing Red ball cricket.

Jay Shah said “All contracted players have been told on phone and I’ll be writing to them too. If the chairman of selectors, coach & captain wants you to play red-ball cricket then you gotta play. Nakhre Nahi Chalenge.” While speaking about Ishan Kishan, the Indian board biggie said “As far as Ishan Kishan is concerned, he is young, I am not saying this specifically about him as it will be applicable for all the players uniformly.”

According to the 35-year-old Ajit Agarkar has already conveyed his thoughts to Jay Shah. “Everyone will have to play, otherwise, the chairman of the selection committee has given me his suggestions and I am going to give him a free hand to let him take his own calls freely”

Hardik Pandya was another name that was raised by the media. The 30-year-old last played Test cricket for India in 2018 and hasn’t been part of the whites since then. While addressing this, Jay Shah mentioned “Whatever advice we get from the NCA — say suppose somebody’s body is not able to handle both white-ball and red-ball cricket — so we do not want to impose anything in that regard. whoever is fit and young, we are not going to tolerate any other tantrums. This message is for all centrally contracted players.”
