In the 11th game of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, New Zealand and Bangladesh played each other in Chennai. The venue was hosting their first game after the India-Australia. The pitch was different from the one during the IND-AUS game. Apparently, the 11th game of the tournament was played on a side pitch. Meanwhile, in this game, the two-time finalists, NZ won the toss and bowled first.

They started the demolition job from ball one and took four wickets for just 56 runs. During this, Trent Boult and Glenn Phillips took one wicket each, and Lockie Ferguson took two. At this stage, the likes of skipper Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim did some recovery job with a partnership of 96 runs. After this partnership was broken, nothing significant happened for the Asian side.

The Tigers were restricted to 245/9 with Hasan (40), Rahim (66), and Mahmudullah (41) getting enough runs. For the Blackcaps, Trent Boult and Matt Henry took two wickets each while Ferguson took three and Mitchell Santner and Glenn Phillips took one each.

New Zealand register hat-trick of wins in ODI World Cup 2023

Despite losing the wicket of in-form Rachin Ravindra, the Kane Williamson-led side was in the game. At 12/1, the skipper came in and put together 80 runs for the second wicket with another in-form player Devon Conway. While the latter missed out on his half-century, Williamson reached there although he played slowly (strike rate of 72.89).

WHile the NZ skipper was retired hurt after getting 78, Daryl Mitchell 89 not out in 67 balls including six fours and four sixes. In the end, Glenn Phillips (16*) also played some shots and helped the team win the game by eight wickets. While the Kiwis have registered their third win on the trot, the Tigers seem to have lost their way after their win against Afghanistan.
