The much-awaited ODI World Cup 2023 will be held in India for the first time ever as a solo host nation. The event, which is set to take place in ten locations in India from October 5 to November 19, 2023, includes Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Dharamsala, Delhi, Chennai, Lucknow, Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Kolkata.

Meanwhile, ahead of the grand event, fans have received a major setback as the Indian Cricket Board secretary Jai Shah revealed that there will be no provision of e-tickets for the tournament. He said that fans have to bring physical tickets to enter the stadium to watch the match.

“We can’t use e-tickets this time around but will ensure to have physical tickets redemption at 7-8 centres well in advance. But the physical ticket needs to be retained. It will get difficult to manage e-tickets at high-capacity venues like Ahmedabad and Lucknow. Our plan is to start using e-tickets more in bilaterals first and then take it to multi-nation events like the World Cup,” Jai Shah was quoted as saying by Sports Tiger.

We had a word with the state associations today on the tickets: Jai Shah

On October 5, the opening match will be played between the 2019 finalists England and New Zealand. But when the Indian cricket team faces Australia, a five-time World Cup champion, on October 8 in Chennai, all eyes will be on them. The tone of the tournament will likely be established by this high-profile contest. And then the much-awaited contest India vs Pakistan will be played on October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. However, Shah further added and said the tickets will be on sale soon.

“We had a word with the state associations today on the tickets. 90% of the associations came with the manifests and 1-2 didn’t have it ready. We have given them time till Monday to sort it out. The apex cricket body and the Indian Cricket Board will then jointly announce ticket pricing and everything. The ticketing partner is also almost sorted.”
