‘Isne toh bina bole credit de diya’ – Fans react as Shivam Dube credits MS Dhoni after his brilliant knock against North Zone in Deodhar Trophy

West Zone and North Zone clashed against each other in the 10th match of the ongoing Deodhar Trophy at the Cricket Association Puducherry Siechem Ground in Puducherry on Sunday, July 30. West Zone displayed a brilliant batting performance as they defeated the North Zone by 6 wickets.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star and West Zone all-rounder was the hero of West Zone’s victory as he played an unbeaten knock of 83 runs off 78 balls which included 3 fours and 5 sixes. He talked about his knock in the post-match presentation and said that former Indian legendary captain MS Dhoni helped him to improve his game during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

“MS Dhoni helped me upgrade my game, I got to know how to finish the game and how to tackle the bowlers” Dube was quoted as saying by Mufaddal Vohara on Twitter.

Brilliant batting performance by West Zone

Talking about the match, North Zone opted to bat first after winning the toss. However, they lost their first wicket inside the powerplay when their opener Prabhsimran Singh departed in the 8th over on the score of just 26 runs. However, the middle-order batters displayed a decent batting performance as Himanshu Rana, Nitish Rana and Shubham Rohilla smashed their half-centuries and helped the team to achieve a target of 259 runs. 

Shams Mulani was the star with the ball as he picked up 3 wickets and conceded just 29 runs in his 10 overs quota. Chasing the target, West Zone didn’t have a great start as they lost their 2 wickets on the score of just 49 runs. However, they suffered a huge setback when their opener Harvik Desai got run out in the 26th over.

But that was the last wicket North Zone could take as Dube and Kathan Patel stitched an unbeaten and match-winning 138-run stand for the 5th wicket and took their team to victory. Patel accompanied Dube very well and scored 63 runs off 85 balls which included 6 fours.
