Cricketer-turned-commentator Gautam Gambhir lost his cool during the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 game between India and Nepal. In a fresh video going viral, he showed his middle finger to the spectators chanting Virat Kohli’s name. Talking about the game, the Men In Blue were casual in their first-ever game against Nepal. They dropped three catches in the first 10 overs.

Thanks to Nepal openers, Kushal Bhartel and Aasif Sheikh, the debutants had a great start. Thanks to a half-century from the latter and a 48 from Sompal Kami, the team reached 230 all-out in 48.2 overs. Given the lack of experience of the Asian side, this is a good score against a top ODI side.

Gautam Gambhir makes contrasting statement regarding India’s World Cup wins

The Member Of Parliament from Delhi has been vocal about the credit given to a few individuals to India’s ODI WC wins in 1983 and 2011. In one interview, he spoke about how the likes of Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni only get the credits. However, in another interview, Gambhir said that Yuvraj Singh didn’t get enough credit.

“If you keep talking about one person day in and day out, it eventually becomes a brand. That is how it was in 1983. Why start from Dhoni? It started in 1983. When India won the first World Cup, it was all about Kapil Dev. When we won in 2007 and 2011, it was Dhoni. Who created that? None of the players did. Nor did the BCCI. Have the news channels and broadcasters ever spoken about Indian cricket?” he had asked.

“It’s unfortunate that when we talk about the 2007 and 2011 World Cups, we don’t take Yuvraj Singh’s name. Why not? It’s only and only marketing and PR and portraying one individual as the biggest and everyone else as smaller than him,” he had said. “We have been told who won us the 2007 and 2011 World Cups [but] it was not one individual it was the entire team. No one individual can win a big tournament. If that was the case, India would’ve had 5-10 World Cups.”
